NEW BAY IS A CHAMPION AS WELL AS HIS JOCKEY VINCENT CHEMINAUD------------------------------------------- New Bay imposes himself in front of the Irish horse Highland Reel and the horse from Pau (South of France), War Dispatch. New Bay is owned by the Saudi-Arabian Prince, Khalid Abdullah, who already won the Prix du Jockey Club in 1990 with Sanglamore. The colt is trained by André Fabre in Chantilly, who has been recognized as the best French trainer since 1987 (except in 2009). It is his fourth success in the Prix du Jockey Club, but overall his third since the distance was reduced to 2,100 meters in 2009. New Bay´s jockey, Vincent Cheminaud, is an exceptional jockey. He is both, the best steeple jockey up to now and only an apprentice jockey in flat (jockey with less than 70 victories). It is very rare that an apprentice wins the Prix du Jockey Club. The last one was Serge Gorli with Bikala in 1981.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW BAY'S OWNER IS PRINCE ABDULLLAH AND LORD TEDDY GRIMPTHOPRE IS THE MANAGER------------- Lord Teddy Grimthorpe, manager of the Prince Abdullah, owner of the New Bay seem happy and proud of New Bay's performance: “The great quality of the horse is his turn of foot. He was very calm before the race. He is capable of changing his speed which characterizes the great horses. I was not very preoccupied by the distance. His young jockey knew how to deal with pressure and was very professional, he is a champion! I am very happy. It is a big day for the Prince and the Juddmonte breeding.“ The second of the podium was Highland Reel, and "made a very good race. He made a very good effort in the last part of the race and was very courageous.“ said Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Highland Reel, War Dispatch end up on 3rd position, and his trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget seems satisfied with his performance :“He had a really good race. We have not regret. We are very pleased with his performance. He is beaten by two horses that are better than him. We will think about his next races.“ Source : Francegalop
