USPA NEWS - The ministry of agriculture, food and forestry, was informed in late afternoon by the national reference laboratory typing the first analyses of the bacterium Xylella Fastidiosa detected in Corsica on polygales sheet myrtle.

The bacteria present in samples Propriano region belongs to the multiplex subspecies, totally different from the subspecies pauca identified in Italy. STEPHANE LE FOLL FERNCH MINSTER OF AGRICULTURE WENT TO SEE TEH INFECTED PLANTS IN CORSICA--------------------------------------------------------As he said during his visit to the outbreak area, Stéphane LE FOLL, the French Minister of Agriculture invites the prefect of Corsica to quickly adapt its management measures with regard to this information, in consultation with all stakeholders. As indicated by the Prefect of Corsica this morning, plants for which the bacteria are positive research results are all polygales to myrtle leaf from the same lot located on the island in 2010. All other withdrawals on plants, with or without symptoms, found around the first infected plant, resulted in negative results to date. The expert mission will be dispatched next week help clarify things.
