USPA NEWS - PM Boris Johnson paid a visit to President Macron on Thursday 22 August 2019 at the Elysee for a working lunch. The two French and British heads of state made a short statement to the press followed by two questions (one from each respective press). At 13:30, they headed inland to the Elysee Castle for a working lunch, which should not last more than an hour, as President Macron receives the new Greek head of government, Kyriakos MITSOTAKIS, scheduled for 15h at the Elysee. President Macron will then continue his marathon by receiving the Indian PM in Chantilly at 6:15 pm, after which the invitation Indian on official visit, will have an official dinner at the Elysee at 8:15 pm.

Wau residents seek durable peace in Roc-Roc-Dong County rally

USPA NEWS - Roc-Roc-Dong County has been significantly affected by displacement from ongoing conflict between farmers and cattle keepers. A big crowd of people gathered under a huge tree, dancing and singing peace songs, at a public peace rally in Roc-Roc-Dong County, organized by the Wau area government. The crowd – comprising the Wau area governor, advisors, cabinet ministers, county commissioners, local chiefs, youth, women, children, cattle keepers, and farmers’ representatives – had descended upon Roc-Roc-Dong to show commitment to ensuring durable peace in Wau and the neighbouring areas of Tonj and Gogorial in South Sudan’s Greater Bar el Ghazal region.

UNMISS Dedicates 300-Watt Solar Panel System for the People of Gogrial in Sudan

through its Quick Impact Projects

USPA NEWS - UNMISS Head of Field Office in Kuajok Anastasie Nyirigira Mukangarambe thanked all partners that supported the project and hoped that the Radio station would make impact. A 300-watt solar panel system funded by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) through its Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) has been handed over to authorities of Gogrial in Kuajok.
The system which is valued at 48, 250 United States dollars was implemented by a local non-governmental organization, the Lukluk Community Association for Development (LCAD) and is intended to provide power supply for the only local radio station running in the area, Gogrial 99 FM.

USPA NEWS - The G7 Gender at the Center Initiative (GCI) is a chance to mobilize the necessary political leadership and expertise at country level to rapidly step up progress in gender equality, in and through education. “GENDER AT THE CENTER INITIATIVE ” : Putting gender equality at the center of education sector planning
Gender inequality persists around the world, and education continues to reflect these inequalities. Despite significant gains, girls, and particularly adolescent girls, continue to be left behind. In Sub-Saharan Africa, 52 million girls and young women are still missing the chance to go to school and are facing significant barriers to their education. Increased school enrollment of girls is necessary, but African Union members have recognized that it is not sufficient for achieving gender equality in education outcomes. For sustainable change, a strategic shift is needed to move the focus beyond gender parity in numbers, to a broader focus on how the education system as a whole can advance gender equality – in areas such as safe learning environments, teacher education and practice, curriculum and materials development, leadership and administration.
